A busted tube means it is time for a Race Recap!

On today's training schedule there was a 35 minute run.  I was going to ride my bike along with Jerry while he ran.  He was out pumping up my tires and then BOOM!  A busted tube.  It was so loud our neighbor (one of the ones who works for the police department) came outside to make sure nothing was wrong.

Since it looks like I won't be going out tonight I figured it was a good time to finish my race wrap up.

Another race is in the books.  Another medal is hanging on the wall!
This race was a little different for me, and I loved it!  This race we had friends with us!  Jerry has been training with one of our friends and this was his first race.  So instead of me being by myself I had company, my awesome friend Jennifer.  This race was a little different.  All the athletes got on the Harriott II Riverboat and cruised down the Alabama River.
Each person jumped off the side of the boat and started their swim.  I have no idea when Jerry jumped off. But we did end up finding him in the swim.

One thing I have learned during all these races, is Jerry is focused.  He will not see me if I am standing directly in front of him.  The only time I really talk to him is out of transition if I can get his attention.  Most of the time I can't.
Jerry had no idea I was right in front of him when he got out of the water.  He was off to get on his bike.  I was off to see where I could see him on his bike.  This was the only complaint for the day.  Not all of the volunteers knew the course.  It seemed that each volunteer that I talked to trying to get to the bike no one knew where I needed to go.  So I missed Jerry starting the bike.  I was able to see Justin come into transition and start the bike.  After both guys were on the bike.  It was time for a bathroom break.  (This is part of my race routine)  Then it was off to wait for the guys to come in to start the run.  We did get to see Jerry and Justin start the run.  Both saw us.
This picture is funny to me.  Jerry never sees me, so I'm not looking for him to see me.  This picture is right after Jerry waved at us AND I MISSED IT.  Now it was on the finish!  This was really exciting.  Jerry raced to the finish!  He had two people on his tail.  One who happened to work for our local news station.
And he beat them both!
Jerry had a PR.  1:33:29!  Super proud of him!  As we always do...the picture of Jerry and his medal!
It was a great day! Super proud of these two!  Looking forward to Augusta!

Tonight while we were at church we were told that Jerry made the news at the finish of the race.  So I had to find it!  Well I found it!  Pictures are good, but a video of the finish is even better!! Courtesy of WSFA News
